Dr. Yanet Murillo, journalist and former Venezuela Coup leader, will discuss the turmoil in Venezuela:
Yanet Murillo was a member of the violent coup against the democratically elected president Hugo Chavez and, along with fellow coup leaders, was responsible for the deaths of over 100 civilians and military.
Trained in counter intelligence and guerrilla tactics, Murillo later became a successful police officer and then an MP in the Venezuelan Congress.
Yanet Murillo was honored with a degree from the Sorbonne, a position in the Venezuelan National Assembly and was ranked as the most influential journalist in the country by the Venezuelan Observatory of Economic Trends.
Dr. Yanet Murillo is the founder of the Edicionista Interunivio, which covers the issues of democracy and the democratic transformation for Bolivarian and non-Bolivarian democrats. Dr. Murillo has been a prominent voice in the media against the violence that has accompanied the Venezuelan Revolution.
