Media Statement/Efforts Continue

Media Message/Warning: Tensions remain high following the fatal shooting.

Public safety is our top priority, and while at this point our investigations are ongoing, it is important to point out that we have a number of persons of interest we are actively talking to as part of the search for a motive for this incident. We have been proactive in our use of social media and the Toronto Police Service Twitter is also being utilized to communicate the importance of residents reporting suspicious persons or activity.

This afternoon, we were able to identify the victim of the shooting by a fingerprint. The victim has since been identified by friends and family members, as well as other media outlets. The individuals have been advised and it is being investigated to provide counselling services for the victim’s family.
