The Scarborough shooting was one of several overnight in Toronto

On Sunday morning, Toronto police were called to an incident on Killarney Street in Scarborough. When officers arrived, they discovered two men with serious injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Local media reported that multiple shooters were on the scene during this incident.

The victims have been identified as two men, aged 30 and 35, police said in a news release. Investigators said the men suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body, but there’s no word on their current condition.

The shooting comes after Toronto Mayor John Tory declared Friday Canada’s “Violence Prevention Day.” He asked people to get out in their neighborhoods on Nov. 28 to hold “crime-solving activities.”

“Visible police presence is a great crime-fighting tool. It makes the community safer, as witnessed by several different crime reductions since 2014,” Tory said.
